adding country code automatically?

Post by Pflichtfeld »

Hi,
beeing new on android and smartphone, I typed all my contacts without country-code (+49).
Recently beeing at the polish border I got the result: No correct connection, as I was logged in in Poland.

Now: Is it possible, to add this +49 to all my phonenumbers of all contacts automatically?
Maybe a workaround: Export the contacts to excel, add that at the PC and reimport the changed data?

Thanks for help!

Hello
You can use the number prefix function. Add all contacts to a group. Then the group editor, add the number prefix.

This becomes a little more complex when using British numbers. These all start with 0 (zero), this being stripped off when adding the country code +44.

Dialing from inside Britain... 07790 nnn nnn

Dialing from outside Britain... +44 7790 nnn nnn

I know you can long-press the number and use the feature "Edit number before call" in the dialer, but this becomes a little tedious. The Group Editor can add the dial prefix, but apparently not strip the zero. Is there a way in DWP to do this? How about in Edit Group adding a sub-option of Dial Prefix... "Remove leading zero"?

Hello
Thank you, I will consider.
If it is not a lot of numbers would be easier to modify.
You can export contacts to VCF file, and then modify and then import.
