[Supported]prefix/suffix for dialing

Post by evenpar »

Hi there,

The last two years I've used DialerOne. I changed to DWP Pro because I never got one feature to work (search for contacts without any phone number). DWP does that, so I'm very happy with it.

DWP has its own style and I appreciate that. Nevertheless I would like to make two suggestions and hope you may consider integrating or changing that.

1. As you can see in picture #1 there is a colon after the phone-number-type and than no more space. This looks very dense and if possible I would prefer a change to a look like in the lower half of picture #1 - or the possibility to change that in the preferences.

2. One feature of DialerOne I miss so much in DWP. It the possibility to define a prefix used before the phone number and add that prefix with a long-press of the dialer button. Picture #2 shows the menu in the DialerOne preferences and what happens at the dialer himself. Why is that important for me? As a psychotherapist sometime I have to call a patient back after his voice message at my office phone was forwarded to my cell phone. In Germany I can use the code #31# to suppress my cellphone number. I do that because the patients should not get to know this also privately used number. With DialerOne I could easily select the patients number, long-press the dialer button, get the code inserted and press the dialer button again to dial.
Maybe you can integrate this feature too.

Thank you for listening,
evenpar

long click is for voice calling (if supported)
but i set it on my list to make an option for "dailing prefix on long click" (if there is an value,then voice dialing will not be used,then it will add at first the prefix and then add the number and dial.
so,i set it to my whishlist (don't know when we will add, because the list is long and i think, this feature will not be used by so many users)
but it will come in future.

thanks for the idea ...

Thanks for considering it!

Any thoughts about changing the ":" into " " between the phone number type and number itself?

Thank you anyway,

changing to " " -> i think is not very important - isn'T it ?
next - in many countries they having space in numbers, so i thoink would not be a good idea.

well, i research before adding your wanted feature ...
please can we discuss again for it ?

i found:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/motorola-mi ... wie-2.html

there you can see for (germany and austria) it seems to be:

#31# will set your phone to: sending own phone number
*31# will set your phone to: block sending own phone number

so, if you save 2 contacts like:
contact1 = "Telefonnummer blockieren" -> *31#
contact2 = "Telefonnummer mitsenden" -> #31#

then place this 2 contacts on quick-call, so it is very easy to switch/handle - isn't it ?

because to save this contacts on the different numbers, will be handled by DWC, but if you want to share the contact to other, then they will also have this info - so, it is not the best idea to add this directly to your contact database.

what do you mean ?
is your feature request really needed ?

to call a phone number with *31#1234567890 will not always works (provider related), so, please take care of this !!!!

we added this functions in version 2.0.9which will besoon online ....

if prefix set, then : there should be in long dial menu:
prefix = what will be added before number ...

if len(prefix)>0 then: there should be a new function in list, which is then called:
on long click:(on contact: ABC with number: 1234567890)
(example:prefix = #31#)
-> Call 1234567890
-> Call #31#1234567890 (NEW)
-> Edit number before dialing

if len(suffix)>0 then: there should be a new function in list, which is then called:
on long click:(on contact: ABC with number: 1234567890)
(example:suffix = *12345*)
-> Call 1234567890
-> Call 1234567890*12345* (NEW)
-> Edit number before dialing

if both .. -> (len(prefix)>0 && len(suffix)>0) ->then:
-> Call 1234567890
-> Call #31#1234567890(NEW)
-> Call 1234567890*12345* (NEW)
-> Call #31#1234567890*12345* (NEW)
-> Edit number before dialing
