Hello,
Thanks for the developed possibilities of the program.
I ask to provide for records one more field: "department". I use This field in MS Outlook.
At work in the organisations this field is actual.

i never saw a department field in android. not all fields are supported by android - and also not all fields are supported ony all different contact account types.
if there is such field, then you can search for it on tab "search"

Clearly. Absence of this field means is a problem Android.
Let's hope that in due course it to appear.

Hi karam,

Here's a thought:

The Android app "Contact Editor Pro" shows a field it calls "Department" under the Organisation data subset. If I include one, my phone (Moto Defy) displays it inside (brackets) after the Organisation name, thus: Organisation (Department)

Maybe CE Pro will help you do what you want?

Cheers,
A

Thanks for interest.
Problem in that at import from Outlook Android 2.3.4 (Galaxy S II) does not copy a field "Department".
Therefore "DW Contacts and Phone" this field does not show.
I am afraid, "Contact Editor Pro" as can make it.
On other device (SonyEriccson WT19i) the program of synchronisation from Sony at import unites fields "Organization" and "Department". Therefore on this device "DW Contacts and Phone" shows a field in one line: "the Organization Department".
Thus, it is a problem of import of records from Outlook in Android 2.3.4.

Hi karam,

Yes, I have many of those similar problems.

I use Google Contacts (over WiFi) to sync (really, to backup) my contacts, then export to CSV (google.csv) from Google Contacts.

Then import to MS Excel as a CSV file and use it to repair all the damage, then save and Import back into Google Contacts...

Excel has plenty of useful functions that can help. In Excel 2010 (not sure about earlier versions), there's a tool to split your text data into separate columns. (Or you can code it yourself.) You'll have to write some code to fix it up though. For example, some organisations may have two or three words or more in their name, and same for some departments. Better idea, just create an extra column into which you manually enter the number of words in each Organisation name, then you can write the code to separate the joined names back into the correct two columns: Organization and Department.

I know it's a bit of work, but probably less than fixing each contact manually, depending on how many you have...

Cheers,
A

not all fields are supported by all sync engines ...
then - almost all contact editor are buggy.
on ICS it is a little bit better, but also buggy, (EAS, or carddav)
only "Contact Editor Pro" supports all real fields - this is a MUST HAVE for every one, which wants more as only name field
