Countact search display half screen down

Post by PatrickB »

EVO 4G
DW Contacts/Dialer Version:2.2.3-pro

Since the update last week, when I search for a contact, the top half of the results Page is off screen towards the top, so the best results are hidden until I scroll up.

Previously, I would type on my SwiftKey keyboard in the bottom half of the screen, and the top results would appear in the top half of the screen. Now, the bottom of the first Page of results displays in the top half of the screen.

Thank you,

Hi dwp,

I think what he means is that on his phone, when he does a Search (not sure where from), the Results List is positioned about half a screen higher than it should be.

That means that the first few results on the list (maybe four or so) can't be seen, until he scrolls his list back down. Sounds like the position of the top of his list is set about half the screen height ABOVE the top of his screen, so the part of the screen he can see first (in the top half of his screen), is actually the bottom half of the first page.

Make more sense?

Cheers,
A

Hi A
Thanks!
If this is too strange.
The list of DWC will reset to the starting position when the search input data changes.

Thank you Alcan. Your description is accurate. To further explain:

1) I select the DW Dialer icon on my home screen.
2) The dialer screen appears with SwiftKey dialer covering the bottom half, so I can type
3) The recent history displays in the top of my screen
4) The very top of the history is not displayed, but is a half screen above the top edge of the screen
5) I scroll the page down so that I can see the first few contacts

Apparently, instead of the bottom half of the Dialer screen being covered up by the keyboard, the Dialer screen is shifted upward by half a screen. That makes the top half of the dialer screen out of view.

Does that help?

Hi Dwp,

Which Android app would you recommend for doing screenshots?

Rgds,
A

P.S. No, from my understanding, when the Search Results first appear, the top half of the screen on his phone shows the Second (bottom) half of his Call History list. The rest of his screen is normal. So, at the start, it is like someone has already scrolled his Results List up half a page. In order to see what's at the top of the list, he has to scroll it back down first. That would be annoying!

I guess it's a conflict with his version of Andoid and DWP. One or other doesn't set the top of the screen to the right place in Search Results display.

Hi A
If you are using Android 4.0 or above systems.
Press and hold the volume down and power button at the same time.
Otherwise, use the camera. :D

Hi dwp,

Jeremy are two screenshots. One shows the screen when I first see it and type on a contact name. Notice that part of a contact is at the top.

When I drag my finger down the screen, the rest of the search results from the top are visible.

Thank you,
PatrickB

This issue is still occurring in 2.2.3-pro, but did not occur prior to that upgrade.

Thank you
I understand the problem.
It works fine on my phone.
It always does not work on your phone?
Whether the problem occurs after you update the system?
Now install the old version of the DWC can work it?

Yes, it occurs every time.
Note at the bottom of the earlier screenshot that this occurs when I am on the "Phone" tab and perform my search. It does not occur when I am on the "Search" tab.
Where can I find an old copy to install?

[FLASH!] In the meantime, I just backed up DW settings, and restored all to default. Now it works as expected with the top result visible at the top of the screen -- not off the screen. I kept a copy of the bad settings and will email them to you directly in case you want them for review. I have gone through the settings again to change them, but have not been able to duplicate the issue. All done.

Thank you so much.
