Shortcut displays wrong information.

Post by pollensa1946 »

Settings/Create shortcut on home screen/Frequently Contacted.
When the shortcut on the home screen is selected it does not display Frequently Contacted. It displays the complete contact set.

I am using the very latest official release of DWP-Pro, my "Create shortcut to home" shows Frequently Contacted (between Events and History). It does indeed put a shortcut labelled Frequently Contacted on the Home Screen. However, selecting that shortcut shows the wrong display (All Contacts).

I understand that, because you create a custom TAB lead to display it. But I tested it works fine on my phone. Try hold this auto group, and select Create Shortcut.

1) I just tested the "Create a shortcut on home screen" again on the new release which came out this morning. Again the home screen shortcut shows the wrong display (all contacts). The custom TAB I created (on the main TAB bar in the Contacts Display) shows the correct Frequently Called display.
I've now discovered that another custom tab I created (by long pressing that Group) also has the same problem. This tab shows the correct subset of 26 contacts when invoked from the TAB bar but shows the entire contact set when created on the home screen. A mystery!
2) I know I can use the alternate long press on the Group to "Create a shortcut to home" and that works OK, showing the correct display. The problem with that is it creates a blank/grey icon on the home screen. I stopped using Group Photos as they don't get synced to Google and it's troublesome trying to maintain them across multiple devices.
So until there is a solution to (1) I've abandoned using the home screen shortcut.

One short-term solution for (2) above (long press on the Group to "Create a shortcut to home") is that if the Group has a photo assigned by the user then use it, otherwise use the DWP icon rather than the blank/grey system icon.
