I have attached a screenshot of the dialer screen. How do I get rid of this header completely or at least restrict it to using a single line at the top of the screen. I don't really need the date or the info bar telling me how many contacts match the search etc.

hi, maybe your default system font size is set to big, so that it does not fit into.
normally it is shown in 1 line, and there is enough space (normally)
anyhow, if wanted, you can disable the dividerline in phone settings.
-> "Phone settings ->
-> "Show call log group by date" -> ON/OFF (default = ON)
(text: "If activated, it will group call logs by date")
but maybe the real problem is on your phone, that your system font is too big, then maybe there are other texts, which also not fit into ?
