sure, this is easy possible:
you have to setup your t9-search settings as you like it:
in t9-settings:
only set(disable all other):
.) Match exact part of word (NTA match dwcoNTActs)
(of course there is no option to find only from beginning

Thank you , but this evertinhg i know, but i dont understand why is there possibility to match exact part of world , and there is not possibility match exact part of world only in beginning of world(s). I think 99 % searching is about find exact part of world from beginnig( of course in every word of the name). I dont remeber when i was wanna search something in middle of the name (NTA match dwcoNTActs). When i dont have this option (match exact part of word in beggining of world) , i have always in search many names where T9 searched part in midle of world.

TON - will match: TOmas Naomi
TON - will match: TONy vargas
TON - will match TOmas vargas Network(company) (if skip word is activated)
TON - will match Tim ONagami

I dont understand , my request was search TON only in one world of name.... i want possibility to disable searching in two or more words, only search in one word (First Name or Surname or Company or ....but only in one of this) i dont wana for TON match Topolcany NOkia (in two words). Each of my searching is about find exact part of world from beginnig of ONE word. When system search in two or more word, i have unnecessarily results. (and i must add one another letter in search) I think most of people search in one word. iam only one who have trouble with this ? So i think my request is not done. Or is there somwhere this settings ? Idont see it.

you should read the t9-search settings.
if you only want to search in 1 word: disable all settings in t9 !
then try it again.

for your understand ...
if your sort/display order is set "lastname, firstname" ...
like: "Doe John Microsoft" ... (this example incl. organization search activated in t9)
this string is prepared for st9-search:

if you want to begin to find: "Doe", then all t9-can be disabled
because t9 always search from start ...

if you want to find: "John", then you need "Allow skip word" - On (because otherwise it would not skip word "Doe")

if you want to search for: JohnDoe - this would be not working, because it is prepared as a string and not every one in extra fields.
and we can not put it into extra fields - otherwise t9 search will so slow, that you can forget it.

therefore you must sort + display change to "first last"

Hi, thanks for promt answers , but I think we still dont understand.
First of all , i use T9 search, 7+ years ago , from beginnig of T9 search on Windows mobile 5.0 , so i think i know something about T9 search , and something about how it should be work . All of your new futures are great (mach words anywhere , skip words, match exact part of word atc...). But i have still feeling , something with search base is wrong.
You wrote : if you only want to search in 1 word: disable all settings in t9 ! If i disable all settings in T9 i have no resoults. I search in first name No results , In Surname No results , i change sort/display order NO Results. No results when i search in any name(of my 600). So your tip dont work. Try it !.

For example , i have only this 3 names in phone (settings show contacts as system defaults – this is firstname first)
John Doe MICROSOFT
Kontro Hrnak IBM
Locika Goivak ESET

1. In T9 settings all disabled - search JOH - No results , search DOE – no results
2. In T9 settings enabled Match the first letter – search JOH – I have results JOHn Doe , KOntro Honak, LOcika Goivak
3. In T9 settings enabled Match the first letter – search DOE – i have John DOE

Point 1. Its no results ok ? i dont know
Point 2. I have results , but i have 2 more results like i want. (KOntro Honak, LOcika Goivak). Please imagine how many unnecessary results i have for searching in 600+ names.
Point 3. I have results in surname so its ok , but now i have only 3 names , so i dont have unnecesery result, in my all contacts a have unnesesery results.

I think your T9 search is great with many possibilitis for people who want it, but missing one basic posibility. Search only in one word (search JOH – results JOHn Doe) , no in two or more words (search JOH – results JOHn Doe , KOntro Honak, LOcika Goivak).

It is written clear ? Or am I doing something wrong ?

Regards Peter

sorry, now i got it - we will fix it.

PLS: seems to be - never tried it with all options off, because then it does find nothing at all, and this is not ok.

great support ! now we finally understand :-)

So please remember when , match the first letter is not enabled , there is no possibility to enable Allows skip word. (if i want search in surname, and your T9 search only in first name, how you write "...because t9 always search from start" )

I think When nothing is enabled , we need this results
1. search JOH – results JOHn Doe
2. search DOE – results John DOE

hi,
no i don't think so,
if nothing is enable it should be:

1. search JOH – results JOHn Doe
2. search DOE – results .... nothing
if you want to find also DOE, then you have to set "skip words"
