I have organisations as clients. There are sometimes several employees using the same phone. The names of the employees are in this case less important than the name of the organisation.

Is it possible to have a group "clients" with contacts which have the fields "organisation" and the "name" (of the person) filled in and which are sorted by the name of the organisatio and not the name of the person?

You can open the group the "clients"
Then switch to the "organization" TAB
At this time you can see the sort by organization.

Thanks! Sure, this could be a sort of work-around.
But it shows ALL my organisations and not only those from the group i am in. A better/more logical thing (being within a group) would be to have them in some way filtered/limited by the group, imho.

Exactly, it does not seem to work properly: inside each group i always see all of the companies names, they are not limited to the group entries.
This was the same with my phone SE Live with Android 4.0.4 as it is now with the new Galaxy S3 with android 4.1.2.

One more thing. maybe relevant in some way: i never create any groups on the phone, i always create them in outlook 2013 and synchronise them to my phone using the software MyPhoneExplorer.

You can try to create a group to do a test on the phone.Only add a contact to the group.

I've done the following on the newest ver 2.4.1.1:

- deleted all contacts and groups
- rebootet the phone

- created 2 contacts on the phone:
name: X, company field: Org1
name: Y, company field: Org2

- created 2 groups: G1 & G2

- assigned X -> G1
- assigned Y -> G2

Now i press the group "G1" and see only contact X inside; but when press on the tab "organisations" inside this group i see both the "Org1" and "Org2"
This is the same with group "G2": when press on it, there is only the contact "Y" inside it; but when press no on the "organisation" tab i again see both "Org1" and "Org2".

As i said above i have this same behaviour on my new phone galaxy S3, android 4.1.2 and earlier on the SE Live Android 4.0.4

I always see only "oranisations" when press this tab inside a group. This is the same when i am still at a higher level (seeing my list of groups, before opening a group).

Seems like this tab is always linked to all organisations.

hmmm...sure, it's strange. I always only use official ROMs, though rooted.
