Cannot see number when typing

Hi, since several versions I cannot see any number anymore when typing the number. The rest works.
So typing a number starts filtering previous contacts from history, but the number must be typed without seeing it. Also pasting numbers into the edit field does not allow to edit the pasted string.
This is a ZTE Blade with 2.3.7, CM7.2.
