Searching for a number.

I go into All Contacts and select Search function. In my contacts there is a number "00 aa cccc nnnnnn". If I search for "cccc nnnnnn" then the contact is found, but if I search for "nnnnnn" it is not found. Since both are partial searches why is one OK and the other not?
