DWP

I installed the updated Google phone app some time ago and it worked fine until I installed Calls Black list. This app asked to be the main phone app and does not give you a choice. After that clicking on a contact would display a notification that the call was being protected but never displayed the call, no ring, no dial pad, no notification. I know the call was placed because the party answered but could hear me nor me them, strange. I uninstalled Calls Black list and it still did not work. I restored DWP still not working. I set Google phone to Phone app yes and rebooted and now it works. What happened?
