Sort order for search results

I was wondering how to get the sort order for a search contacts to be reversed from what it is now. Searching for a first name with the first three letters produces a list of contacts with the 3 search letters other than the first three. So, I see contacts with a match in other fields like notes or address before I see the matches on the first three letters of the name. I want to see the name matches first not last. How can I do that or can it be changed in the program.
