DWC-Ringtone should be activ when standard ringtone 'None'

Post by DWPsmart »

I like to turn the default or standard ringtone of the phone to 'None', because there often are messgaes of news- or other unimportant Apps that should not signal with sound. This works with Threema, Signal or Textra I used up to now. These Apps use their implizit defined Ringtone and all other Apps are silent. Unfortunately DWC behaves like the other Apps, it is silent when I turn the Standard-Tone to 'None' even when I have turned ringtone on in DWC.
So, could you please adjust this? I would be pleased!

Greetings

If it is about incoming call ringtones, you can set a custom ringtone for the contact group.

I misspoke. I diddn't mean the ringtone for Incoming calls. I meant the ringtone for sms. I have activated the ringtone in sms&Email-settings and it doesn't work if i have the Standard ringtone turned to None in the general phone Settings.

Hello
In the new android system application cannot manage custom notification ringtones. You can set it in the system notification management. Please refer to the screenshot.

Hi devin,

thanks for your support.

It seems, the screen-shots are out of Android 10?
Unfortunatly Sony will not update my Experia XZ1 to Android 10 and I have to work with V9.
My settings are the same at the first screen, but the second screen (Notification Category) does not exist under V9.

My problem still remaines.

Best regards

Hello there
There is no category support in Android 9, but you can still set ringtones for each notification.

Hi devin,

when I turn the ringtone to 'None' in the general phone settings, than, inspite of that, the internal ringtone-settings in 'Threema' and 'Signal' work well.
In DWC than the sms-ringtone is silent. And, when I turn the general ringtone to a specific tone and I have chosen another tone in DWC sms-settings, than DWC also uses the general type, not the one defined in sms-settings. 'Threema' and 'Signal' show that it is possible....

Isn't there anyone who has the same problem?

Best regards

This is the general phone setting for ringtone: None (german 'Ohne')

The next two screens are the phone-settings for the app:

and the last are the DWC-internal sms-settings:

With these settings no DWC-sms-ringtone.

Hello Devin,

there is no 'Neue Nachricht'-Checkbox. As you can see there is only 'Benachrichtigungen' (I interpret incoming messages) (checkt) and
'Töne für ausgehende Nachrichten' means tone for outgoing messages (not checkt) But i checked it for test, no change.
With 'Benachrichtigungen' checkt, it should work.

Hello
You need more than just select, you need to click on the text to enter the detailed settings, where you can specify the notification sound.

These are the detailed settings. As you can see, I have chosen 'eXcitement' for the notification sound.

Hello there
Did you see my previous picture? Ringtones are not set in the dw contact settings. You should configure it in the system notification management.

Hi devin,

I'm afraid, you can't help me. As you can see in my second picture I have checked what you mentioned ('Neue Nachricht').
Perhaps it is a special case with my Sony Xperia xz1 compact.

Nevertheless much thanks for your support.

I mean click on'Neue Nachricht', then you won't get a new screen? Where can you configure the ringtone.

Yes devin, now we got it. I didn't klick on 'Neue Nachricht', I only checked it.
When I configure there, it works.

Much thanks for your help and patience!
