Hiding the alphabetical overlay - permanently

Ive had the pro version of DW for a couple of years and now have the alphabetical overlay plasted over the contacts every time I open DW. Cant for the life of me work out how to permanently hide it.
I know I can thumb and forefinger squeeze together to temporarily hide it but want it out always.
Can you advice please.
